      or no votes! ;-)

Haha no, this page has a link to download the votes in an ODS file! Click “Get the App Showdown Community Vote Results”.

Wow, they didn’t even spend the time to let us know what to do on this page, not even a small description. Documentation is important. I thought they’d know that. Thanks Fitoschido.

Replace Orthcal with Nitroshare and I’m fine with it!

I quite like GWOffice and Fogger. NitroShare looks great too

btw. it would be nice if there was an overview of all apps including the NAME, DESCRIPTION* and
at least one SCREENSHOT. So one does not have to click at every app to get to know what the app is about. Maybe make it optional so people who want just see the names of the apps can view it the way it is now.
*I think a short sentence is enough to get to know what the app is about. After clicking on the name
one can get the full description like it is atm.
There should be a zoom function on the screen shots.

Well this was well publicised wasn’t it? I’m so glad that I wasted my time installing and rating these apps, then spent 3 months awaiting the results only to find it as a small file dumped on a page.

Anyone else find it odd that in second place was a calendar for the Eastern Orthodox religion? I’d say that was pretty niche.

      Hi Connor,

The results were indeed published 3 months ago on the app developer blog [1], which is syndicated on Planet Ubuntu. We also shared the results on Reddit and on the social networks. This page contains only the file with the results, which we shared for the sake of transparency. It is intended to be a download page only, as the announcement itself already contains all the details [1].

I’m sorry to hear that you did not see the announcement, but if you’ve got any suggestion on how we could have better spread the word in addition to the ways in which we published the announcement, we’d be more than happy to hear them to improve the next contest.

Thanks a lot for testing and rating the apps. Your vote was reflected in the results and your time and effort was indeed appreciated!

      Cheers,
      David.

I suppose I was just a little put out that I missed the results entirely. I follow several Ubuntu blogs too. I am not sure whether they didn’t mention it whether I just plain missed it. Maybe I should have followed this blog rather than relying on others. But there doesn’t seem to be a way of subscribing to this blog’s feed?

It was a great idea, and a great competition, it even had me thinking about trying to code some kind of app (that would involve learning to code first), it was just a little tricky installing the apps in order to rate them.

Hi Bruce, no worries. There is a feed for this blog indeed! To subscribe, you can either click on the “App Developer Blog” link at the bottom of the page on http://developer.ubuntu.com, or go to the feed directly from http://developer.ubuntu.com/feed. We’re looking at ways to make this more visible, so that it’s more discoverable.

Glad to hear your feedback from the contest. Indeed, installation proved to be a step we need to improve in the next contest. Hopefully we’ll see your app in the next one too! :)
